In the news: Bridge Pa Triangle wine district launched

Alpha Domus is one of a group of wine producers responsible for the establishment of the Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District. The promotion of this area as one of the premium wine growing sub-regions in the country is one of the main purposes of the group, who are also excited at the prospect of working together with Hawkes Bay Winegrowers to tell the Hawkes Bay wine story promoting the region for the good of all producers. Establishing the Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District Sub Region in Hawkes Bay is leading the way to evolving the region, clarifying the offer of many different wines from different soils, climate and communities throughout the region.

This is the brainchild of a small group of local winegrowers: Paul Ham (Alpha Domus Winery), Stephen Daysh (Bridge Pa Vineyard), Grant Edmonds (Sileni Estate), Steve Nathan (Salvare Estate) and Peter Cowley (Te Mata Estate). It now includes ten wineries and seven individual grape growers. Our managing director Paul Ham comments that “This area is ideally suited to the production of quality wines, is proven by the awards won. We excel at full flavoured Syrah, Merlot, Red Blends, Chardonnay and Viognier. These wines are characterised by excellent varietal expression, depth of flavor, generosity, and ample fruit sweetness”.

Looking Forward: Feb 2014

March 2014 – Alpha Domus

Alpha Domus winery was established by two generations of the Ham family. The vision began in 1990 with the purchase of bare land and planting began in 1991. Their commitment is to produce premium quality wines that are true to varietal character and are a reflection of their unique terrior.

The vineyard lies in the renowned Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District of Hawkes Bay. From these soils, Alpha Domus winery produces world-class wines from a wide range of varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Viognier and Syrah.

Alpha Domus wines are single vineyard, estate grown, and vinted at the on site winery.

The name Alpha Domus was inspired by the first initial of each of the family’s first names from the father through to the youngest brother; Anthonius, Leonarda, Paulus, Henrikus and Anthonius (ALPHA); Domus is Latin for house. Some really good wines, we look forward to what is offered.
