    Food Your committee arrange the meat and salmon, and we ask participants to contribute by providing a salad or dessert, this should be sufficient for about eight people. This year we would ask that if your street address has an odd number, that you provide a dessert; and an even number, a salad.

    We have noted in recent years that newer members have not always attended this event.  I encourage you to do so. The weather does not matter, the venue has covered outdoor areas to suit any occasion, including rain. The BBQ is a great opportunity to mix and mingle so please think seriously about attending.

    Anne asks you to bring any screw caps along that you have been collecting over the holiday period.

    Maison Noire is a small vineyard on the Waimarama Road, looking out to sea and surrounded by rolling hills. French winemaker Guillaume, along with NZ born wife Esther, have joined together to present a range of truly boutique wines from Hawkes Bay.

    They Grow Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. Soils at the site are rich and black with a clay base, sloping gently towards the coast. Due to the small size of their vineyard, they also source grapes from various growers in Hawkes Bay. This region has an amazing number of microclimates and terroirs, each of them giving unique characters to the different grape varieties that are grown here.

    You will be able to order wines and pay on the night using Visa or Eftpos. It will be like going to France without the long flight.

    We will be in the first-floor room, same entrance but turn left and up the stairs.  There is a lift if you need it.

    The Crater Rim Ltd is a family-owned boutique winery situated in the rolling hills of Waipara, in the South Island of New Zealand.  They grow, make and market limited quantities of terroir-specific wines produced from their own two vineyards and contracted sites in the Canterbury sub-regions of Waipara, Omihi and Banks Peninsula and in Central Otago.

      Resolution 1
      That the existing rule 3(c) be replaced by
      A financial member shall be one who, at 31 March in each year, complies with Rule3(b) and whose subscription has not fallen into any form of arrears or non-payment except as provided in Rule3(f). A member who complies with this clause shall be deemed to be a member in good standing.

       Resolution 2
      That the existing rule 3(h) be amended by adding
      Life Membership shall give the holder all rights and privileges of ordinary membership except they are exempt from paying any (annual) subscription.

      Resolution 3
      That the existing rule 4(c) be amended to read
      All payments shall be made by cheque or electronic payment duly authorised as instructed and passed for payment by the Committee replaced by the Committee.”

      That the existing rule 9(c) be amended to read
      At each Annual General Meeting of the Club each financial member, being a member who complies with Rule3(c) or is a Life Member, who is present shall be allowed the power of one vote.”

       Rationale for rule changes

Member prize draw

whenAt each meeting, there is a members’ prize draw, but you must be present to win. We also have a raffle draw each tasting with the prize of a bottle of wine. Purchase your tickets at the door and be in to win.

Drinking and driving

Members will be aware of the lowering of drink/drive limits from December 2014. If unsure read the Land Transport Amendment Act (no 2) 2014. We ask members to be conscious of these limits. For those driving, water and some food are provided or think about a designated driver, taxi, uber or dial-a-driver to get you home safely.

Wine bottle screw caps

Anne is collecting them to give to the Lions organised Kan Tabs for Kids. No food lids or beer tops, please. Save and bring them to the next monthly meeting.
